Changing a Serviceable Fuel Filter

Some fuel filters may be serviceable, that is, the filters can be cleaned and reused to a limited degree. These filters would be used on diesel engines. The filter housing might have a drain plug in the bottom. If so, remove the filter drain plug every two months to drain accumulated water and sediment. Replace this type of filter according to car manufacturer's recommendations.
